Tell us what happened

So we can best serve you, please have the following information available when you call:

You can find your policy number at the top of your monthly statement. The policy number is made up of letters and numbers.
Having your policy number available when you call will help us to quickly identify your coverage information and begin processing your claim.

Most GAINSCO policies are purchased through an independent insurance agent. By providing your agent’s name, we are able to quickly recover the documents and other information the agent has on file pertaining to your policy.
This helps us get you back on the road faster.
Most claims are filed the day the accident happens so it should be easy to remember. In the event that the incident and the date you file your claim are different, make note of the exact date and have it handy when you call GAINSCO.

In addition to the date of the accident, we will ask you where the accident took place. Be sure to include details about the exact location of the accident so that we can accurately process your claim.
These details might include cross streets, businesses located nearby, and other landmarks that identify the location.

When you call to file your claim, we will ask you questions about the vehicles involved in the incident. Please provide information about the vehicle you were driving along with any vehicle information related to the other parties.
Collecting this information at the time of the accident is a good practice to ensure that you have the right details.

In addition to yourself, please provide the names of the people who were involved in the accident. This information may include the name of the driver in your vehicle (if you were not driving), the names of passengers, as well as the names of the driver and passengers in the other car.
Contact information for any witnesses to the accident is also helpful and will speed up the claims process.
